Bushcraft on the Bruce

Experience this intriguing guided survival-skills hike under the canopy of the Bruce Peninsula’s lush forests. This adventure will take us deep into the heart of 8000 acres of the Lindsay Tract Trail system, past wetlands, waterways and through a mixture of forest types. Learn basic bushcraft skills to survive and thrive in the wild. We’ll build an emergency shelter, discuss water purification, finding direction, wild edibles and more. We’ll even cook traditional bannock over a fire made without matches or lighter! Opportunities for birding and spotting occasional snakes, amphibians and forest mammals.

Deepen your knowledge of this biosphere’s forest and wetland ecology on this unique curated half day excursion.

  • Rating:145px Ski trail rating symbol green circle.svg This adventure is rated accessible with light hiking over maintained trails. Suitable for children over 10.
  • Where: Meet at the Lindsay Tract Trail Parking Lot on Highway 6 about 12 km north of Ferndale. 
  • When: Start @ 1:00 PM Wednesdays - June 20, July 4th and 18th, August 1st, 15th, 29th, Sept. 12th. Duration Approx 3 hours.
  • What to bring: Sturdy footwear, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, rain gear if inclement weather, snacks.
  • Price: $49.00 (+HST)  Includes snack. Net proceeds to BPBA conservation work.
